Today, Bernadette Wilson, Republican candidate for Governor of Alaska, announced that she raised over $300,000 for her campaign, from nearly 1,500 individual donors. The total raised by Bernadette is the second highest among all Republican candidates in the race when candidate self funding is removed, and she had over three times the number of donors than any other candidate. In addition to this fundraising success, Bernadette has now led the GOP race in three separate independent polls and maintains by far the highest level of engagement and followers across social media.
“From the start of this campaign, I made a decision to run a high-energy, relentless campaign to not only win the Republican primary, but to lay the groundwork now to beat the Democrats in November,” said Bernadette. “We decided to campaign as if every day was Election Day, and that’s paid off with a consistent lead in the polls. We know that Alaskans will not let their vote be bought by self-anointed bureaucrats. We started early, meeting with Alaskans in coffee shops and living rooms all over the state. At some points, we were in as many cities in one week as there are days. As a businesswoman and a lifelong Alaskan of Aleut descent, I strongly believe that Alaskans deserve face-to-face communication and input with their next governor, not political rhetoric that has been purchased and paid for out of an individual candidate’s pocket.
I am also incredibly proud of the investment that we made in our national small-dollar donor program. For too long, Alaska has been shoved to the side. Our strategic location and the resources that we have demand that Alaska be front and center for the rest of the country, and we are excited to be leading this conversation.
