Meet Mike Shower
Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska
Alaska is strongest when its leaders have lived its challenges, defended its freedoms, and fought for its future. That is why Bernadette Wilson selected Mike Shower as her running mate for Lieutenant Governor.
Mike Shower is a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, former Alaska State Senator, and a FedEx Boeing 777 Captain based in Anchorage. His career reflects real responsibility earned in demanding roles where accountability, precision, and sound judgment matter.
Military Service
Mike served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force as a command pilot and weapons officer. He logged more than 10,000 military and civilian flight hours, including over 250 combat hours in Iraq and Serbia.
During Operation Allied Force in 1999, Mike recorded a confirmed MiG-29 aerial kill. He later commanded the 90th Fighter Squadron at Elmendorf Air Force Base, overseeing personnel, aircraft, and facilities valued at more than $4 billion, and played a key role in bringing the F-22 Raptor into operational service in Alaska, including leading early intercept missions of Russian aircraft.
Mike also served as Chief of War Plans for Alaska Command, overseeing large-scale joint exercises such as Northern Edge and coordinating air, land, sea, space, and cyber operations across the Pacific.
Professional Experience
After retiring from military service, Mike continued flying in high-responsibility roles as a commercial airline captain. He currently serves as a FedEx Boeing 777 Captain based in Anchorage, helping keep global commerce moving and Alaska connected to the world.
Legislative Service
Mike represented Alaskans in the State Senate with a strong conservative record focused on accountability, election integrity, and public trust. He worked to strengthen voter identification, improve ballot chain-of-custody procedures, and increase transparency in Alaska’s elections.
He served in key leadership roles including Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Member of the Finance Committee, Co-Chair of the Joint Armed Services Committee, and Senate Minority Leader.
Moving Forward
Mike Shower brings decades of military, aviation, and legislative experience to the ticket. Alongside Bernadette Wilson, he is focused on protecting Alaska’s freedoms, strengthening its institutions, and ensuring government works for the people it serves
